Southernisms Series

Howdy! Introducing my “Southernisms” series!

While my husband and I were living in California I knew we were home whenever we were traveling back and heard that first “y’all” or “fixin to” or anything about college football. And now that we live here its part of our every day to the point that sometimes I don’t notice it anymore. But every now and then one of them pops out in a particularly southern moment and it just makes me feel so happy.

I started this project as a way to highlight some of these sayings and southernisms but really just for fun practice. Actually I don’t say most of these in my day to day life but I absolutely love it when one of them slips out either from me or someone else.

This is an ongoing project and has already started evolving. For example, the “y’all” piece inspired a traditional watercolor piece that I submitted to an art show. I also re-colored it to be rainbow inspired because y’all means all. I’m working on making a sticker out of it for my water bottle because I’m trying to be a person that uses stickers now :) So anyway stay tuned for future additions to this fun series!
